January 2012

January 21, 2012 Richard's Rant by Richard Morgan

One minute Christmas is a few weeks away - blink and its now the middle of January. Therefore the days are getting longer, I know it does not feel it but, it really is happening.

So this means Spring is really not far away, the new Registration is less than 6 weeks and by then it really will be Spring.

I am sure many of you will have heard that the George White empire has sadly bitten the dust, it is an unfortunate sign of the times, hopefully none of you will have lost money.

The most important thing being we are still here, and looking after you and your motorcycles, and we intend to be here for a long time yet. We have always been in it for the long term and have seen an awful lot of Motorcycle dealers come and go over the years, and in many cases apparently we do everything wrong, strange really because we are still here and they are not - oh well I am sure they were right !!!!!

Sorry I have gone off on one !!

Back to what my little rant was about Spring....... What is going on at CMW.

The CMW Clothing sale is kicking off the new Year Starting on Wednesday 1st Feb at 6.00pm. We need to clear some older stock and rationalise what we will stock in 2012 and we want to change the clothing department around a bit so we need a bit of space. I assure you there will be some very attractive bargains so try and make it on the 1st of Feb because once it is sold it we will not be able to replace it and stock is limited....

The new GSXR1000 launch is to be on Saturday 11th February, it is a new bike and I am really looking forward to trying it. It will have more midrange power and has been sharpened up in the steering and handling department  with improved brakes and lower weight.

The press launch on the incredible new 1199 Panigale will be early February as well so keep an eye on the press because it will be the bike of 2012. I cant wait to see what the press say.

More to come .......

Christmas 2011

December 03, 2011 Richard's Rant by Richard Morgan

Firstly I would like to wish everyone an enjoyable Christmas break and a very Propserous 2012.

More importantly what is going in the world of motorcycles.

Motorcycle Live has been and gone, I have to say I did not bother to go I find the motorcycle shows in the UK a huge disapointment. I have been spoilt by going to the Milan show and other European bike shows. For some reason it seems us Brits don't really want a proper show ( actually I think we do, but we are only allowed a display of a few bikes and a jumble sale  ) Ever since the Motorcycle Show first introduced a clothing supermarket it has gone downhill.

When you go to Milan firstly you become overwhelmed by the size of the show it is probably more than 10 times bigger than the NEC show. Every conceivable manufacturer is displaying there total range of bikes and accessories. If its available any where in the World you will find it in Milan. Sadly the same cannot be said of Motorcycle Live. If you did go I hope you enjoyed it if nothing else you will have seen a Panigale and it is I think better in the flesh than in any picture.

So what is happening at CMW in 2012.  Firstly I am sure many of you now know that our Melanie has moved on to pastures new that does not actually mean she has been put out to grass ! She has decided upon a career change and all of us would like to wish her all the best for the future. We have now have a new clothing manager heer name is Nicola and she is determined to carry on Melanies good work. She has started by going through all of our stock and deciding what we need to clear so we are having a New Year Sale and I assure you will find many fantastic bargains, the sale has already started as we need to make some room for a few alterations as we are a little overstocked so come on down the price is right.

Officially the sale will start in January but we are already reducing things now so there are some bargains ready to be bought for Christmas presents.

I do not think we have ever had such a fantastic range of used bikes for years, I know it is the darky gloomy time of year but it is only a couple more weeks 6-8 and it will be lighter in the evenings it might be colder but Spring will be well on the way and it will be march and the new registration etc etc, we are nearly at the shortest day and then its all down hill to the Summer . So now is the time to prepare and make sure you are ready for 2012.

1199 Panigale 2

November 09, 2011 Richard's Rant by Richard Morgan

If you have not seen Motorcycle News and have been on Mars for the last few days you might not have heard about the Launch of the new Ducati 1199 Panigale.

The pictures are out and it looks stunning the specification is also stunning the sum of all parts unsurprisingly is also stunning.

I do not mean to be boring but !!! if the BMW S1000RR was a major leap forward for a 4 cylinder superbike then the 1199 Panigale has moved the V twin Superbike to a new dimension. Not only is this bike lighter than any production based Superbike it was designed and developed by Ducati Corse. This is the most Race Ready production bike yet built.

Yes I have sat on it, yes I have played with the electronics, I have yet to ride one but from what I have seen this bike has grabbed the rule book and put it through the shredder.

This is bike number 3 that has taken the World by storm in the last 3 years first the Multistrada, even now we are getting customers who cannot believe just what a fantastic bike it is, the Multistrada is the everything bike, Touring, Sports or just general fun it does everything. Then last year the Diavel, everyone who has ridden it has been amazed at just how good it is, this bike has carved its own niche market as it is a cruiser with serious attitude and is guaranteed to make you smile.

Now we have the Ultimate Super Bike, we are not talking a slightly different slant to a Vtwin this bike is all new it oozes technology that has never been seen before.

February is an awful long time to wait before we get the press launch and March seems like an eternity away before I get to ride one, but I cannot wait for our demo bike to arrive.

All I can say is make sure you get upto the NEC and see this incredible bike for yourself, check out the videos on the Ducati site and if you have not yet had time make sure you read the MCN supplement.

This bike is very very special and if you want the latest and the very best of Italian Design and World Leading Technology, I recommend that you give us a call sooner rather than later, I have already asked for more Tricolore bikes as we are sold out, I sincerely hope we can get a couple of extra bikes. The interest has been a little overwhelming to say the least, this bike is the class leader owning one will be a very special privilege in 2012, there will be some very disapointed motorcyclists, do not say you have not been warned.........

Succumbed to the power of social media!

October 28, 2011 Richard's Rant by Richard Morgan

It was only a matter of time before we would take on the challenge of social media...and it seems that time has come! So we now have fully functioning Facebook & Twitter pages and what are we going to do with them? Well provide you with the latest deals, offers and news on everything bike related of course! We want our social media to be interactive, so feel free to post questions, pictures and comments on our wall and twitter feeds. Once we hit 200 friends and followers we are also going to start doing giveaways so stay tuned, lots of fantastic goodies will be up for grabs! In addition to our social media antics, we are also in the process of updating the website…. CMW’s is getting all tech-savvy… who knew eh?

I have more exciting news to share with all you biking enthusiasts…. The brand new Suzuki GSXR1000 will be revealed at Motorcycle Live (19-27 November) and the incredible new Ducati Panigale will be revealed next weekend in Milan! Two amazing bikes being revealed in the same month? All this excitement will give me a headache! For more information on these fantastic bikes, you know where I am… ring CMW’s on 01243 784 539. I will also make sure to keep you posted with reviews of both bikes so you can decide for yourselves which one you think comes up trumps!

It was a sad weekend for motorsport last week as the incredible Moto GP racer, Marco Simoncelli, died following an accident during the 2011 Malaysian Grand Prix at Sepang on 23 October 2011. Tipped to be the star of the 2011 season, Simoncelli will be sorely missed.

1199 Panigale

October 14, 2011 Richard's Rant by Richard Morgan

The news is out and I do not need to put down here all about the incredible new engine as I am sure you have all read about it it either on websites or MCN.

The truth is this bike really is something totally new, everything is new and the engine is a huge technological leap forward. Ducati despite there reputation as being very expensive service, are in reality very reasonable to service, the service intervals are going up and up and the new engine has moved on again.

Suddenly we are seeing a very different product, I still get reminded by certain bikers that Ducati have over the years gone through the odd period of unreliability and poor finish. I am pleased to say all of that is very firmly in the past. We have been selling Ducati for over 20 years to be honest we have had a few problems but it has always been easy to sort out and Ducati as ever did its utmost to sort any problems out. Finish is second to none, Service intervals are some of the longest in the whole motorcycle industry, spares back up is first class, ( although i admit accessories can be a bit slow coming through ). The problem as always, Ducati Bashing is very popular. A certain German manufacturer fitted there new supersports 4 cylinder with some hondaesque chocolate camshafts bikes were rattling and breaking down all over the place hardly got a mention, and similar thing on Honda and Kawasaki. One Ducati is a bit lazy to start and every one is happy to slag Ducati off. Speak to most Ducati owners and find out the truth they are really as good if not better than most other bikes.     So watch this space when the Panigale hits the street a lot of fur will fly.
